Volvo Experience Tour | A Scandinavian experience with the flavor of Romanian spice

There are times in life when the planets align and you begin to understand who you are, where you come from, where you are now and where you’re going. Well, for me, the Volvo Experience Tour stimulated the emergence of such a moment, which made me a little more aware of what is going on around me.

Okay, let’s put the profound stuff aside and explain a bit what this Volvo Experience Tour is all about. A one-week tour through Romania, with 6 Volvo models driven by 12 journalists and influencers, ready to discover them in a context close to the place where they were designed, more precisely in a context inspired by Scandinavian culture. What does this context mean? It means experiences in nature, from admiring the beautiful scenery to rock climbing, glamping, rafting, bobsledding or boating on the lake. Furthermore, the places we visited, and especially the food we enjoyed, will be classified as a Romanian spice, the Swedes would like to have something like that.

Then the natural question would be what am I looking for in all this context? Well, to make the mission of our dear journalists and influencers easier, I accompanied them as a representative of Volvo Cars Romania, or as some would say, as the class teacher.

Now, let’s resume to the profound revelation. It’s a dream job to experience something like this as you can imagine. It’s tiring, but it’s the kind of tiredness that doesn’t bother you at all. And it was here that I realized what I was talking about in the opening of this article. In short: I, a sporty person, slightly addicted to adrenaline, who totally respects nature, who loves to travel and values family above all, I end up working for a brand built for people like me and I find myself in the middle of an event through that the brand expresses itself by firmly implementing those principles that I also respect. If you work in marketing, you’ve surely seen those presentations with company values. Yes, I began to understand what it means to live them for real with the help of this experience, and I cannot make you understand the sense of fulfillment this thing brought me.

I’ve read a few articles that have studied the criteria by which my generation (millennials) get their job satisfaction, and yes, people have realized that this congruence with company values, as pompous as it sounds, has a big influence. Here we put the Romanian disclaimer, if you don’t have anything to eat or where to stay, it’s slightly more complicated to look for values, the context from which the children leave has a great influence of course. But if you were lucky enough to get a good education, my advice is don’t look at that extra 1000 euros you get from a not so ethical business, better look at which company you choose based on the way that business operates and of course depending on the development opportunities it offers you. It’s much smarter to start playing the long game from the age of 20, a bank loan and a premium second-hand car won’t help you in 10 years, when you will probably be responsible for the development of a child.

I’ve slipped a bit too far down this slope of profound stuff. Let’s get back to the Volvo Experience Tour experience itself. I will list below, the places where we stayed, maybe it will help you in a future trip around Romania, I tell you that the food is worth it everywhere:

  • The Grand Prestige Igloo – Glamping – Goulash must be requested here, and if you are an admirer of Arab culture, the hookah, I won’t say anything about the landscape – https://goo.gl/maps/tg2vsSTeLyPdv2ku6
  • Panoramic Colibița – Luxury – Here you need to enjoy the pool with a view, all the comfort of the hotel, but if you have the chance we had, enjoy a traditional Bistrița feast, you will never forget it – https://goo.gl/maps/BbCdEU1NqTRx7W5B6
  • Raven’s Nest – The Hidden Village in Transylvania – You haven’t seen it, you haven’t lived it, it’s out of this world – I’m ashamed to describe this place, I don’t know if I deserved to get here, but I’m telling you hand on heart that it’s a purifying experience, medicine from top to bottom – https://goo.gl/maps/gAtiX4nNFXL1W8eDA

As for experiences in nature:

Now, after all the fantastic story, we have to say that nothing would have happened without the initiative of the Volvo Cars Romania management team, which was equally aligned with the spirit of the brand to approve such a project. But the architect, the man with the plan, the co-founder of the applied notion of Scandinavian experience with the flavor of Romanian spice, is Mr. Mircea Meșter, for whom I take my hat off. I have also organized events, but something like that, so many days, so many people and so many moving elements…
We also have to thank the journalists and influencers who dived into this experience, but they, like me, were guests and judging by their faces at the end, I think they kind of enjoyed it.

In conclusion, today’s lesson: do things you believe in, be like Mircea!
